The focus on wellness in real estate is growing, with more developers and homebuyers considering health and well-being in their housing choices. Data from the Global Wellness Institute indicates that wellness-oriented real estate construction has more than doubled in the last five years. Properties with a wellness focus can also command a price premium of 10–25% over traditional homes.
Teri Slavik-Tsuyuki, co-chair of the Global Wellness Institute’s Wellness Communities and Real Estate Initiative and founder of the America At Home Study, says, “Wellness absolutely drives value.” She points to research showing that about 85% of health outcomes are linked to the built environment, including factors such as access to clean air and water, spaces for movement, opportunities for social connection, and access to private outdoor areas.
